Has anyone ever asked you the question, “Who are you?” I’ve been asked this question and have responded with the obvious, “I’m Leanna!” And yet there is so much more to who we are than just our first name.
Our identity is a gift, graciously given by God. It is not determined by culture or what you do. Our identity starts with and depends on God’s identity. Our identity is found in Christ.
How often are we in conversation with others and instead of referring to ourselves the way God does, we instead speak things contrary to what God’s word says about us?
I’m not good enough.
I’m unqualified.
I am a failure…the list continues.
We need to stop putting labels on ourselves
I want to remind you today that God’s thoughts about you are precious and innumerable (Psalm 139).
You are known by God (1 Corinthians 8:3).
You were created in God’s image. You are an image bearer (Genesis 1:27).
You are called by God (2 Timothy 1:9).
You are a masterpiece and uniquely gifted for service (Ephesians 2:10).
In Christ, you are qualified.
You are a child of God.
You are loved. You are so loved.
Next time someone asks you “Who are you?” or you’re reflecting on this very question, think about these things.
You are who God says you are.
With love, Leanna
Love this!! Such a great reminder of who we truly are in God’s eyes, sometimes it is hard to believe. Yet, continuing to rest in the truth silences the lies.
That’s right. Speaking God’s word will always silence the lies of the enemy. There is so much power in what comes out of our mouth. We must ensure what we say reflects Jesus well. <3
